I would rather go Naked...

So PETA got some press coverage again after getting their Superbowl add campaign banned by NBC.

They should have seen that one coming since we all know how pumpkins are too sexy for TV. And a model touching her breast with her hand while eating broccoli... I say bring on the veggies...
I mean granted it does make veggies look steamed... But it's not exactly like the Danish company's add for electronic appliances... Be warned it is described as "Gloriously NSFW"...

Not that this one is related to that particular coverage but I guess we all heard their slogan "I would rather go naked..." and they get celebrities to pose here and there under much press coverage.

Like this one:

Behind the scenes of Danity Kane's PETA photo shoot.

Maybe it's just me. But they show up with a "I would rather go naked..." and yet first thing they do is to make very sure they are covered up real good... I mean so much for that slogan...

I would say put your money where your mouth is or... well you know...

In the clip above you can even see how one of the girls have this really cute little carpet wetter doggie... Noticed how the top of it's head is dyed pink... I'm not completely convinced that is all natural... or the dogs choice for that matter.

More houses

So we went out looking at houses again.
I do snap a few pictures when we are looking at them and yeah I know I am not posting all of them since I am sure it would bore most people quite a bit...

However we did see one today that was a pleasant surprise. Maybe it's because we didn't expect much or something like that.

but a few pics and you tell me if Emma might like this one...

I don't know if I *really* need to put words on this one. But maybe Emma found her room. All pink with flowers and... stuff...

and the outside... yeah let's just say kids might just like it...
Emma brought along her teddy and they both were testing the equipment. Just making sure things are working and we buy something decent ;-)

It sure does look nice and if everything works out it could be a very nice place to be the owner of.

Traffic is grrrreat....

Under normal circumstances traffic in Washington D.C is one of the reasons why I pretty much want to stay clear of that place and not drive there.

However today traffic is greeeat. Just look at these trafficland camera shots:

but well you may wonder where people are and well here is another reason for me not to go(yeah I don't care much for the million people crowd):

But then again some areas are nice and clear...

Wonder what's up ;-)

Oh may wanna check out this one: Waitin' On Obama

ps. I just hope the people downtown brought enough clothes to stay warm... It is a wee bit cold...

mystery solved...

Here I was thinking those birds sure do tend to eat a lot... I mean the can even disassemble the feeder, eat grapes and carrots...

naa, I kind of knew it wasn't them (I'm not *that* blond) and I have spotted our visitors several times before. But now I got some not so blurred photos of them.

ohh did you know that firing a flash from within the house doesn't scare them one little bit. Even if they are looking straight at you...

Not fair...

If you don't know the magazine Natures best you should check it out sometime. It's pretty good.
They have a kids magazine (yeah cute right...) but well don't let the kids part fool you. These are some very very good photographers. They just happen to be teenagers... yeah...

but they are good. Check out the winners for last year right here.

ohh don't compare with my birdies in previous post ;-)

From the great outdoors...

Sooo I had a few opportunities for taking the camera outdoors over the weekend. That as you would know is pretty cool :-) However that particular weekend of course had to be rainy, cold and windy. So I did a few photos with the birds in front of the house and as you can see it was a little wet for them...

Ok I have to admit that Sunday morning is kind of slow for me. I am not exactly jumping out of bed at 4am to run out and get some great photos. But Emma spotted a new visitor on our deck and well I thought it would be long gone before I would have a chance to take a photo through the kitchen and windows.

But I got that one :-) As you can see the distance, light and window didn't do the photo much good though.

When it took off it landed in a tree in the back yard. So on to the next window...
yeah shooting through the window and with the screen it didn't really work too good either.

Knowing there was a chance it would fly away I was sneaking out on the deck. Yeah no time for silly things like a jacket, shoes and all those comforts. So tip-toeing over the wet and might I add Cold deck wasn't really a big pleasure...

This worked better but as you can see I wasn't pleased with the angle and the branch deciding to be in my way.

Despite I didn't really get dressed yet. I got jacket and shoes and tip-toed around the house. I figured that eventually it would get scared off so my tactic was to take a "roll" of photos and try moving a bit closer.

I ended up with about 200 photos and here is a selection of the keepers.

The hmm sort of funny thing about all of those is that I took them standing in my pj's in the back yard with the cold freezing wind blowing up under my jacket, fingers freezing and eyes tearing from the cold wind and end up with these photos.
Other times I am heading to the mountains hiking up and down in search for something like this but come home with nothing like it...

Ohh btw. I think it's a Coopers hawk that's about a year old or so. Once it grows up it will have red eyes and the chest colors and pattern will change.

Waiting on ...

Did you hear the Brad Paisley song Waiting on a woman?

Recently Cledus T. Jedd created some new lyrics for that one and had Brad Paisley add a little guitar on the track for this song: Waitin' On Obama

shut down the city

This morning I heard about the planned shut down of D.C. during the inauguration. It sounds quite extensive with road closure and just about all bridges from VA into D.C. will be shut down or restricted.

If you are going get ready for some walking...

freezing my rear end off...

First off...
As some know I have a thing about cameras and do have a few "oldies" around. You know the ones that take film (the stuff you take to the camera store to get developed before seeing your photos).

Anyway. Today with mom out shopping I was playing with Emma and we were looking at the different cameras and figuring out how they work. She actually figured out how the manual focus works...

Anyway. Back to the subject...
Since I started the Christmas vacation I have been feeding the wild life (squirrels) and they started getting used to having me around. So I have chased off cats and just you know hang around to observe them.

Finally today I got some good chances of getting some photos of them. So I was sneaking out there and gradually getting closer to the squirrel as it was eating.

As I was sitting on the concrete steps freezing my rear end off... yeah that was cold.
Ms. Cardinal stopped by... So of course now I couldn't move for sure...

After a short visit from Ms. Cardinal the squirrel came back and I got a few more :-)
If I say so myself it wasn't bad at all. Other than my hind end was a bit cold after wards... But hey... all worth it :-)

>>update><<

So just as I thought Friday was over photowise...
We were watching a movie and I was going out for a small break to get some "fresh" air...
Just as I opened the door three white tails jumped right in front of me... Yeah I jumped too. But since they didn't run away I got the camera and grabbed a few shot.
Yeah a little dark, shaky and the iso bumped wayyy up there. But hey it's evidence :-)

Once the movie was done and Jacki went off to take a bath I noticed the stars were very bright outside and figured I should try out my new lens with low light in a situation like that. So I got some white fuzzy spots too :-)

While you are here head on over to the photo story Friday and check out the other entries.
