It will pass

Sometimes weird weather happens. Even in the northern Virginia where we reside.
A Friday evening where we sat down to watch a kids movie I noticed that the light outside was kind of weird looking. This orange/yellowish glow



I know it can look like I just got the color balance way off or something like that. But the color of the sky was really orange and kind of weird looking.



At the same time as the colors were all off from the usual heavy clouds were coming in and it was getting darker fast.



ok so I did zoom at the same time as taking this photo... but kind of cool and taking advantage of the funky colors.



Doesn't this just look bouncy...



As it was getting darker the sky turned more purple...



And we got a little thunder and lightning. But as usual it stayed clear of Warrenton with the Warrenton split that cause the weather forecast to be wrong about 90% of the time.

After a couple of extremely hot days...

Finally after a couple of days with some extreme temperatures we got the storm that was bound to come around.
Given our location most of it just passed us as usual but I did manage to get just a few photos as it was almost right above us.

I must admit I totally forgot all about which settings are best for lightning but finally it was while it was dark outside so I didn't have to deal with daylight. However the difference between a pitch black sky and a lightning bolt is quite big so it's all about guessing....

There you have it... it was within a couple of miles so very bright and sorry you have to miss the sound on it... it was goooood...



Last one that got captured (man you should have seen the one that got away). Boom bang and all that good stuff.



Now if only we didn't have all these trees around us... that would be much better but hey. Just wanted to share a few from this nights storm (well it was brief and not really that stormy but loud).

Update update on spring time post

Sooo I had barely posted the one on spring time and the ohhh so nice weather with great temperatures (just over 80f or so) and well... guess what...



yep... it started raining. It was kind of weird and well something to suspect in the spring time after a couple of days of warm weather. But for one thing it was coming from the "wrong" direction. Usually due to the mountains and all we don't get rain or snow from the west...



This one came in fast and with plenty of wind and rain. We had all the windows open and in no time the rain was pouring in windows and on to floors everywhere since the wind forced it almost sideways.
But we got a little free water in the tub (might be a bit cold though) and some wet carpets around the house...
In front of the neighbors house there was a small lake so hope he doesn't have to go anywhere or well had to.


ohh did I forget to mention the hail... yep the photos above is from the front steps and the little white spots are not dust on the lens but hail coming down.
This is to me a little weird. High temperatures as in well the last thing you would think of is a hail storm and yet... there it is...

Funny how things can change fast...
