New tutorial - enhance and pop color

Last night I finished a new tutorial.
I started creating it based on a photo I manipulated quite some time ago. I kind of forgot how I got the result so it took a little experimenting.

But finally there is a new tutorial available :-)

Just a few quick ones

So I tried a little photoshop with a photo of Emma to create hmm something nice.

Emma's reaction... yeah I don't like that. I can't see my dress... Maybe it's a girl thing ;-)

Anyway here it is.

I was standing outside trying to take a few photos of the birds in the bird feeder and just you know trying stuff out.
Then I saw a huge bird zooming over and after about a split second I realized that I actually had a camera in hand.
It was a bit of a quick shot but I kind of caught the ugly one in flight ;-)

btw. did you know they got the "skin-head" to avoid rotting meat to get stuck in their feathers? one sure can learn a lot from the birdie books ;-)

ohh and I got family photos from January uploaded. They can be found on the right hand side of the main page :-)

Have a great weekend...

Paint by numbers...

As some may know I did get the bamboo doodle ehh tablet... you know with the pen tablet for making it easier to use photoshop.

one thing is editing photos. Another is painting in photoshop and well many places describe techniques where you dab the brush... Try doing that with a mouse...

Anyway I got started on one painting where the first step is to outline your drawing. Well I guess I should have picked another one for the first painting since well it did take quite some time to outline it.

After getting the outline it's on to adding color and painting in the outlines (this is the sort of paint by numbers).

Not that I would compare it to someone like Rembrandt but here it is
(oh yeah you need to check out the link: http://www.rembrandtpainting.net/ there is a lot of paintings and history to be discovered).

The lighthouse is the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse off the coast of Annapolis, MD (in the Chesapeake bay).

Just for the fun of it

At a recent trip to a closing Circuit city I found a cheap(er) wacom bamboo fun tablet...

Come to find out. It's fun to play with once you start figuring out how it works... It can be a little tricky but relatively quickly it's much easier doing selections and touch up in photoshop and such ;-)

So just for the fun of it... here goes

Photos from October

wow... Finally got around to uploading the photos from October. Including the halloween photos :-)

You can find the little player on the right hand side or use the links to go and check out the album.

Speaking of which. Are you uploading photos to an online location for sharing with family and friends?
Do you or would you pay for a service like that?
Some are offering the convenience of being able to print from the galleries. Is that something you would do?

I am using photoshop express from Adobe.
I have to admit that my primary reason... yeah... It's Free...
But I also (in the same breath) have to admit that some of the new photo editing options they have made available are pretty good and will cover 80-90% of what you will need. And yeah it's Free.
Also on this one you can connect it with other online photo storage accounts and do prints and all that stuff... but I haven't really tried that just yet ;-)

Soo go ahead give it a try. I think you might just end up liking it. and well not to forget.... It's Free...

Hot chicks in advertising

Models used for advertising in magazines and posters are all supposed to look a certain way and just to make sure that the photos come out the best way possible some of them have extensive photoshopping done to them.

well sometimes it's like... yeah maybe they missed something.

Tickle me Tuesday

It's Tuesday and time for a little fun.

So I was lucky getting one of the books I wanted to get. It is called The moment it clicks by Joe McNally.

ohh and should you be tempted to buy the book (which I can only recommend) get it at Amazon and save $20...

In the section I was reading last night he had a pretty darn good quote.
"Face it we are emotional people. When we get the photo we are like six years old running up to the teacher with a look what I did, look what I did".

And reading this just after I created a good print and running up to Jacki telling her how great it looked.... well 'nuff said on that one ;-)

Reading a lot of books and magazines on photography there are always some that have the opinion that everything can be fixed in photoshop.
Sometimes however... it doesn't really turn out the way it should... Take Sears as an example(look at her left hand):

Just for the record. I didn't change the above. Check out the Sears web page to see the original.

Have a great Tuesday and have fun with the other Tickle me Tuesdays...

Photoshop express

A new release in the photoshop family is available from adobe.
Unlike photoshop this is free!!!

It has many great features that are easy to use (no haven't used it much yet) and did I mention it's free...

With this one you get 2Gb of free storage and you can create and share albums as you please as long as you are not using more than the 2Gb... So much for flickr.com (200 photo limit and 3 albums/sets).

But well don't take my word for it.
do a test run or sign up for free at
http://www.photoshop.com/express

ohh and you can get your url as in .photoshop.com pretty cool :-)

once I get some albums created over the weekend or sometimes next week they will be available at http://dyrholm.photoshop.com
