freezing my rear end off...

First off...
As some know I have a thing about cameras and do have a few "oldies" around. You know the ones that take film (the stuff you take to the camera store to get developed before seeing your photos).

Anyway. Today with mom out shopping I was playing with Emma and we were looking at the different cameras and figuring out how they work. She actually figured out how the manual focus works...

Anyway. Back to the subject...
Since I started the Christmas vacation I have been feeding the wild life (squirrels) and they started getting used to having me around. So I have chased off cats and just you know hang around to observe them.

Finally today I got some good chances of getting some photos of them. So I was sneaking out there and gradually getting closer to the squirrel as it was eating.

As I was sitting on the concrete steps freezing my rear end off... yeah that was cold.
Ms. Cardinal stopped by... So of course now I couldn't move for sure...

After a short visit from Ms. Cardinal the squirrel came back and I got a few more :-)
If I say so myself it wasn't bad at all. Other than my hind end was a bit cold after wards... But hey... all worth it :-)

>>update><<

So just as I thought Friday was over photowise...
We were watching a movie and I was going out for a small break to get some "fresh" air...
Just as I opened the door three white tails jumped right in front of me... Yeah I jumped too. But since they didn't run away I got the camera and grabbed a few shot.
Yeah a little dark, shaky and the iso bumped wayyy up there. But hey it's evidence :-)

Once the movie was done and Jacki went off to take a bath I noticed the stars were very bright outside and figured I should try out my new lens with low light in a situation like that. So I got some white fuzzy spots too :-)

While you are here head on over to the photo story Friday and check out the other entries.

Emma and Dad

Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

Sooo what do we do when we just jump out for a bit and see what we can find?

Yeah. Emma and dad likes to go out and just look to see what we can find. The trip often takes us to Petco since it's just about the cheapest zoo you can go to, there is always one nearby and Emma loves it.

In the dogs section we look at all the toys that you can get for the little ones and big ones. Emma likes pointing out the different toys and then I have to guess what kind of a dog it's for.

At the back of the store they have the really interesting animals. These are the ones Emma really likes (well other than the birds, fish, dogs, guniea pigs and so on).

And this little guy... yep we have been looking at it every single time we go up there. It's such a cute little snake and it's pink too :-)

Just for convenience there are step stools around the store and well that's a help since we have to look at every single pet in the store. Even though it's sounds like a lot of running around in "just" that one store it's fun :-)

When we don't go to Petco and we are out driving sometimes we tend to wander off. Not moms favorite thing but when we see a vehicle like this... well gotta take a look.

Look dad look dad... shadow is here... Now this probably makes most sense to the ones that have seen "Bear in the big blue house". But hey if you get it you get ;-)

Driving home through the battlefield... I guess this is the point where the camera goes just about anywhere and it's perfectly normal to snap pictures while driving...

Sometimes when we are "just" home and sitting outside we like to watch the sky and the clouds and come up with different things they look like. On good days we will even see a couple of airplanes which in Emmas book is coming from the airshow or going to it.

Hope you enjoyed the little trip around with Emma and dad :-)

Photo story Friday - Through the eyes of a 4 year old

Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

We have had some "talks" lately... I know something between a father and daughter thing. For now it's things that are manageable and the current topic is weather. That is storms with heavy winds, thunder and lightning. All the stuff that makes the light go out and concern a 4 year old girl.

So to show how small storms and a little rain doesn't really do much we talk about it and as a dad I am trying to show Emma what it is and it at times can look cool when there is a small rain shower and the sun is peaking out.

One of these times is when Emma spotted the rainbow.... It all started out with some rain and thunder and Emma getting quite upset over it. So we walk to the windows and see how the sun starts peeking through the clouds and the trees dancing in the wind like the ponies dancing in the clouds (from one of our book readings).
So by this time Emma is ok with it and yeah dad that's pretty cool.

All of a sudden she runs to the other side of the house... Look dad look dad and she about pees her pants (well she did have a dress on by I guess it's an expression). So we end up going outside to get a real good look and the rain is going away while the rainbow sticks around for a bit.

First view is from the garage (yeah we actually use it for cars...)

Here is a view from the lawn.

I picked up Emma since the grass was wet and she didn't have much footwear on. We jump the bushes and get to the lawn. As I am holding her she has one of the best comments I have heard for a while.

With a concerned look Emma is saying: "But dad.... I don't see any ponies or care bears...".

Guess what we have been reading?

Have a great 4th of July.
